<Message from Saitama Medical University Nursing and Care Technology Project Promotion Committee>
Kodansha Ltd. will publish the bible of caregiving technique, " Saitama Medical University Style: Comprehensive Techniques for Assistance that Require No Force," on April 27.
Under the guidance of Prof. Yoshiyuki Nezu, chairman, Saitama Medical University Nursing and Care Technology Project Promotion Committee, we have standardized the quality-assured caregiving techniques at our university.
We are pleased to announce that we have compiled the caregiving techniques that we have introduced as our standard caregiving techniques into a book entitled " Saitama Medical University Style: Comprehensive Techniques for Assistance that Require No Force", which will be published by Kodansha Ltd.!
The author, Prof. Nezu, suffered a stroke when he was in his 30s, which left him paralyzed on the left side of his body. After 2 years and 8 months of rehabilitation, he recovered to the point where he can lead his daily life, but he still has partial paralysis in the left side of his body and cannot use much strength in his left hand.
He also had stage 4 terminal cancer and lost the function of his right pectoralis major muscle, which left him unable to use his right hand, walk, lift his arms and legs, or move his entire body, yet he was able to film the book and video over the course of a month.
Having witnessed the filming and witnessed the author, who is unable to bend over or maintain his own posture, perform the assisting techniques without straining his whole body and without putting any strain on it, I am convinced that this book on assisting techniques will become a bible for the entire medical and nursing care industries and a source of great strength and light for those who suffer from caregiving.
We hope it will be of help to all medical care professionals, patients, users, and patient/user families who suffer from caregiving.
