Prof. Yoshiyuki Nezu was interviewed by Weekly GENDAI at the office of the " Saitama Medical University Nursing and Care Technology Project Promotion Committee ".
(The office is located on the 13th floor of Saitama Medical University Hospital.)
Prof. Nezu's book, " Saitama Medical University Style: Comprehensive Skills for Caregiving that Require No Strength " was released on April 27! He talked about how he developed the Nezu Method, a caregiving technique that does not require any back strain, and how he plans to spread the technique, which has been approved by the medical school and has become the standard nursing care technique. Prof. Nezu spoke about the birth of “Nezushiki Kaigogijutsu” and how he plans to disseminate it.
In between interviews, the writer experienced both "conventional nursing care techniques" and " Nezushiki Kaigogijutsu.”
The writer is a writer specializing in nursing care, but this was his first experience actually experiencing conventional nursing care techniques. "I never knew that conventional nursing care techniques could be so painful and frightening," he said sincerely.
Afterwards, he experienced Nezushiki Kaigogijutsu, where he was made to stand or sit without any burden, and sighed, saying, "I am surprised that I can care for people so comfortably and without any burden.
In addition, Nezushiki Kaigogijutsu includes a concept that does not exist as a concept in conventional caregiving techniques: "body positioning. One of the writers experienced firsthand how wonderful Nezushiki Kaigogijutsu is when he was held in a position by Prof. Nezu and was unable to move and fall even if he intentionally tried to fall over.
Prof. Nezu's interview will appear in a special issue of Weekly Gendai on Monday, May 22.
